Who we are

What started with a daughter and a dream—and a dad determined to make it come true—became Cape Fear Volleyball. We are a family-run club built on passion, hard work, and love for the game. Our mission is to develop athletes both on and off the court, creating a competitive and supportive environment where players grow, gain confidence, and become part of a family that pushes each other to be their best every day.

We take pride in our coaching staff’s high level of experience and knowledge, ensuring every athlete’s growth both on and off the court. Our coaches are dedicated to developing confident, skilled players while building character and a true love for the game. #TheClubYouHaveAllBeenWaitingFor

    Brad Strey

    Owner & 15s Head Coach

    With a vision for building something meaningful, Brad never falls short of bringing grit and passion to everything he does. A former professional athlete, he knows exactly what it takes to compete and succeed at the next level, and he uses that experience to guide his athletes every day. Known for his intense, strategic approach, he leads by example and creates an environment where players are pushed to think, compete, and grow. Under his leadership, athletes are challenged, developed, and set up to thrive both on and off the court.

    Hailey Strey

    Co-Director & 16s Head Coach

    Hailey is the head 16s coach and co-director of the club, bringing leadership, passion, and experience to every practice and match. A former setter at Barton College, where she played four years while earning her bachelor’s degree, she understands the game at a high level from all angles. Hailey shows up every day with energy that her athletes feed off, and her love for the game is truly contagious. Her knowledge, enthusiasm, and commitment to development help create an environment where players are inspired to grow and compete at their best.

    Jessica Connelly

    16s Assistant Coach

    Creative and strategic in equal measure, Jess brings both high-level volleyball knowledge and an unmatched drive to the court. Jess played as an outside hitter at 2 NCAA ll schools: Wilmington University & North Greenville University. She obtained her bachelors, and a masters degree and is now currently working towards earning her PharmD at Lake Erie Osteopathic School of Medicine.

    Micaela Barraza

    15s Assistant Coach

    Friendly, attentive, and always ready to help, Mica is a huge asset for the team in pushing our athletes. She previously played collegiate volleyball at Concordia University Chicago. She currently coaches at ECS as the middle school varsity head coach and varsity beach assistant coach.

  • Alli Richman

    14s Head Coach

    Alli is the 14s head coach who brings leadership, experience, and a winning mindset to the court. A former collegiate setter, she has competed at a high level and been part of multiple conference tournament championships. Known for her positive and encouraging approach, Alli pushes her athletes to be their best while building confidence and love for the game. Her energy and leadership create an environment where players are challenged, supported, and inspired to grow.

    Abi Smallwood

    14s Assistant Coach

    Abi has been playing volleyball for seven years, including two years at the collegiate level as a setter and DS. While she is currently pursuing a degree in forensic science, her passion for volleyball remains strong. She loves sharing her knowledge, techniques, and love for the game, inspiring the next generation of athletes to experience the same growth and opportunities the sport has given her.

    Administration Manager

    Coach P is our administrative manager and the heart behind the scenes of the club. She has a gift for bringing the community together and creating a welcoming, connected environment for athletes and families. No matter what is thrown her way, she handles it with ease, organization, and a positive attitude. Her dedication and ability to keep everything running smoothly make her an essential part of our program
